What type of cats come to the Sault's Cat Café?

In order for a cat to be selected to join the Cat-urday Cat Café family it first must be spayed/neutered, be up-to-date on vaccines, have been checked for Felv, be worm treated and flea treated and be in over all good health. T.A.A.G. will perform behavioural analysis on each cat selected to ensure he/she will strive in a social environment. Some cats are territorial by nature and can not be placed in Cat-urday Cafe for adoption. Most cats selected are above 5 months of age and are already accustomed to socializing with other cats and humans to guarantee a smooth transition from T.A.A.G. to the Cat-urday Cat Café.

What does the admission fee cover?

There is a $5 admission fee to enter the Café. This is used to covers the overhead costs of caring for the cats and ensures that we can continue to operate and find homes for rescue cats. The fee covers a multitude of items such as utility overhead, staff, litter, food, treats, toys, sanitation products and many other costs contributing business. A portion of the sales will go directly to T.A.A.G. every month to help them with their costs as well. The Animal Assistance Group relies solely on the support of dedicated volunteers, community partnerships, fundraising, and donations from people just like you.

How can I adopt from the Sault's Cat-urday Cat Café?

Meeting the cat you're interested in is mandatory prior to submitting an adoption application.

We do this for the best interests of the cats. We want each one to go to a loving home where they have been adopted not only for their looks, but for being the right fit and having a personality that will fit into your family as well.

When you're ready to adopt, we ask that you visit T.A.A.G.’s adoption page to review the steps.

How do you keep all of the cats healthy?

Here at Cat-urday Cat Café, the health of the cats is our number one priority. We have cat nannies on shift who keep the cats company and monitor the cat’s behaviours, eating/drinking habits, as well as apply grooming schedules and cleaning procedures to ensure that our cats are striving in the best environment possible. In the event that a cat is not doing well, T.A.A.G. is contacted and they will send a member to check up on the cat and assess if any necessary medical attention is required. If a medical problem occurs that needs immediate attention, the cat will be brought to receive veterinary treatment as soon as possible. Occasionally the cat will need to be brought back to the shelter for re homing if they are not doing as well as anticipated.

What is different between the Sault's Cat-urday Cat Café and a traditional shelter?

At a traditional shelter, cats are usually placed in small rooms or cages to await their adoption. We do not cage cats here. Cat-urday Cat Café provides a home-like environment where the cat’s personalities can flourish. By doing this we are able to house cats who seek a social lifestyle and enjoy interacting with our human customers. Café's are not only for entertainment. By bringing rescue cats into the café it helps make room at rescues/shelters to help more felines. This provides all cats greater visibility for adoption. And by visiting, you’re helping by providing socialization and playtime. At the shelter, they are more equipt to accommodate cats who are more solitary and would be frustrated or stressed in a highly social environment. Both styles of housing for cats need to coexist in order to give cats the best possible living situations.

Can I come in to get drinks or baked goods without being around cats?

Yes! Our bakery is completely separate from the cat Café so you can come in anytime within opening hours to get a drink or a snack. There are no cats allowed on the bakery/food preparation portion of the building.
